Gracias
Gracias is one of Honduras\'s most historic towns. Founded in 1536, many colonial era buildings remain standing today. On 16th April 1544 the governing council for all of Central America was established here, as well Gracias was established as the Honduran capital. Eventually Antigua, Guatemala and Comayagua replaced Gracias in these important roles. Today the city retains its colonial charm and atmosphere and is also famous for the many nearby Lenca villages and for Celaque National Park, which can be explored from Gracias.
