What a coincidence... I just responded to an e-mail
from a representative of TACA airlines.
I would be more than glad to establish a dialogue with
you on how Continental airlines can support our annual
Conference on Honduras in Copan Ruinas. What I would
like is to develop a mutually beneficial relationship
with one or more airlines that fly to Honduras.
The projecthonduras.com network consists of more than
5,000 individuals. The goal of the network is to
share information and coordinate efforts related to
social service projects to support the people of
Honduras. Our annual conference attracts an average
of about 250 individuals annually, representing more
than 100 organizations, companies, churches,
universities, and government agencies. My goal is to
grow the conference to at least 400 people within the
next couple of years.
In order for the conference (and our network) to grow,
I need to find ways to encourage the airlines to
significantly lower their airfares, at least as they
apply to our conferees and eventually to all "social
tourists" who travel to Honduras to perform volunteer
work and participate in research and academic exchange
programs.
I am looking for airlines to become contributing
supporters of the Conference on Honduras by offering
flat fixed airfare rates from various departure
locations. These rates must be very low and remain
stable and predictable throughout the year if they are
to serve as a true incentive for people within our
network.
There are tens of thousands of people who fly to
Honduras each year to provide a social service or to
engage in study and research. We can sizeably expand
this sector of the tourism market, but we need
airfares that are half the price of today's fares.
