regard to the Juan Pablo Segundo Sewing Coop in the mountain village of
El Pital near to La Ceiba. This is a coop that makes beautiful, handmade
Honduran items for sale via the Internet, and at the same time provides
a living for many single mothers, who otherwise would have no source of
income. Some of you have purchased items from this coop during visits to
La Ceiba, and a few have even crossed the Cangrejal river in the little
metal basket, hanging on a cable 50 ft above the river bed. This is the
only way to get to the shop where these woman work.
They are a FREE TRADE organization. There are no middlemen. I have known
and visited this little coop many times over the past 15 years and I
recommend them highly.
