Note that I have just e-mailed our entire network
(more than 5,000 people) and have asked everyone to
write Armando to express their concerns, views, and
requests. I hope we'll have a good turn out. This
really would be the first time we've tried to launch a
lobbying campaign. Certainly, the issue is
worthwhile.
I would very much like to pursue the matter of having
Armando negotiate reduced airfares for conferees who
will be attending the Conference on Honduras 2006.
This would be extremely helpful. I wonder if perhaps
Dennis Flores of Maya Temple Tours could be helpful.
Dennis is the person that we rely on to help conferees
make their ground transportation and lodging
reservations. I'm not clear as to the logistics of
arranging special fares for conferees.
As to obtaining advertising space at the four airports
(Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, and Roatan), I
would be grateful if you would continue to pursue this
with InterAirports on our behalf. The Institute of
Tourism was kind enough to create and position banners
(spyders) at the airports earlier this year, but I
would really like to have something much more
permanent -- something that could not be easily moved
or damaged.
The sooner we can have some visible ads at the
airports, the greater the exposure for the Conference,
and thus the greater likelihood that we might attract
300 or even 400 people to Copan Ruinas during October
12-15, 2006.
