I wouldn't recommend riding local buses. Some time ago I had my wallet stolen by a pickpocket on
a bus. Fortunately I had most of my money in money belt, but the thief did get my drivers license
and a credit card which was later used to buy a plane ticket. More recently there have been two
incidents where people were killed on buses. The Christmas Eve massacre killed about 27 women and
children last year and just a month or so ago a Canadian tourist was shot and killed on a bus
while he was trying to protect his girfriend.
I own a home in San Pedro Sula and go there frequently, but I prefer to use a taxi or hire a van
and driver around town or visit other cities.
Take a bus at your own peril!
