I made the drive in a rental car last month and it was awesome. We drove
during the day but had zero problems, as we also arrived at noon. It took
about an hour in the airport to clear customs. In La Ceiba we had a minor
incident with the police when I left my drivers license in my room at the
resort we were staying in, so keep your license with you. The drive is
actually pretty sleepy with not lots of people or problems. Plus you don't
even go into San Pedro Sula when you drive from the airport to La Ceiba.
