Listos,
I am sending this message mainly for the benefit of people who will be traveling to Honduras to attend the Conference on Honduras on October 20-23, 2005, but it applies really to anyone visiting the country.
Recently, we received the a message from giroir.....net within our network regarding passport requirements:
our group members was unable to travel with us because his US passport was set to expire in less than 3 months (it was still valid for the dates of travel). American Airlines told us that there is a new (as in 2 weeks old) Honduran requirement prohibiting entry to the country if your passport expires in less than 3 months. He was able to get his passport renewed at great expense after the July 4 holiday and joined us for the later part of our trip. I have not been able to find the source of this rule. It's not in the US State Department travel requirements or on the Honduran Embassy website. Anyone planning a trip to Honduras, though, had best check their passport expiration date. >>
Unfortunately, I do not have further information about this matter and I haven't had a chance to confirm this new "requirement". I will make a call to the Honduran Embassy here in Washington, DC.
Thanks, Marco
