Chrles:NOW I do remember the Iguana bar, etc.. I just did not associate that with the Cocopanda. On the banking.. one guy there at the BGA where I go into everytime I go to La Ceiba(he changed my traveller's checks) told me that I go in there so m uch, I should open an account there.. that was what got me thinking about opening an account.. perhaps there.. I do know they charge so much a month for the account. If (jusst for example) I wanted to buy a piece of property there (in the city) (at perhaps some vacant lot), could I, as a gringo, buy that property? If I could, how would I pay for it.... in view that I did not have an account at the bank?I know a guy who builds houses there.. a friend in a way.. a young-ish guy...who started out with another builder and is now on his own.. I used to take down clothes(used) for him. He weighs 300 lbs or so but a very nice guy..... I could buy a property with a Hondurano there (friends of mine) and they could oversee the building of it to my specifications, etc etc.. just a thought Buying a vehicle.. YOU are right.... selling my new pick up here and buiying one there is the best idea. Again, the problem comes down to HOW is it paid for.... Could the Toyota people be trusted with a U.S. check in the amount of $20 plus thousand? Norm...--- On Tue 05/03, Charles R. Meador, Jr. < charlie.....com > wrote:From: Charles R. Saves shipping, duty, registration. A diesel is the best thing to own in Honduras given gas prices, the problems finding parts and a mechanic who knows how to work on your vehicle. Also, your
US vehicle can't be more than 7 years old.I'm drawing a blank on the guy with the house on the hill and the curio lady. Since Mark and Maureen (Mo) left town the mood at Expats has changed a good deal. Joe and Michelle are doing an excellent business but its not the personality place it was. Much of the gringo crowd that had frequented does not any longer. The Coco Pando and, more popularly known, Iguana Bar and Restaurant are located 1/2 way between el centro and the airport. Through Colonia Ponce (coming from town turn right at the Pepsi Bottling Plant), straight through Ponce (do not veer right in to Dantillo), right at the little bridge and continue straight through the gate. You'll hit the place if you don't stop. For your taxi driver: La Iguana Bar, por colonia ponce y recto a la playa. We now have signs on the road and some signs through Ponce.Charlie MeadorCoco Pando Resortwww.cocopando.comLa Ceiba, Honduras
