What I meant to say is that Banco Atlantida and BGA should turn you away, but it never hurts to try (even different offices of the same bank may handle things differently).
When you are ready, you may look in to selling your US vehicle and using the $ to buy something in Honduras. Saves shipping, duty, registration. A diesel is the best thing to own in Honduras given gas prices, the problems finding parts and a mechanic who knows how to work on your vehicle. Also, your US vehicle can't be more than 7 years old.
I'm drawing a blank on the guy with the house on the hill and the curio lady. Since Mark and Maureen (Mo) left town the mood at Expats has changed a good deal. Joe and Michelle are doing an excellent business but its not the personality place it was. Much of the gringo crowd that had frequented does not any longer.
The Coco Pando and, more popularly known, Iguana Bar and Restaurant are located 1/2 way between el centro and the airport. Through Colonia Ponce (coming from town turn right at the Pepsi Bottling Plant), straight through Ponce (do not veer right in to Dantillo), right at the little bridge and continue straight through the gate. You'll hit the place if you don't stop. For your taxi driver: La Iguana Bar, por colonia ponce y recto a la playa.
We now have signs on the road and some signs through Ponce.
