The hotel right next to Helene's Bed & Bath/Restraurant (with cottages
across the road) is Hotel Canadian which is a 3 story building with 22 or 23
units on 1st & 2nd floors & restraurant on top floor, with pool facing the beach.
Unless something has changed is is owned by a "retired" couple from Canada,
Jeanette & Charles. That's where we stay when we go to Honduras/LaCebia. Are
they still the owners?
The white concrete 3-story "house" you pass on the left sitting on the
beach before you get to Helene's & Hotel Canadian (on the beach side of the
path) we were told is owned by an artist, who has been building that house since
before we started going there....1999. The last time we were there we "toured"
around the outside of this house.
In Dec. 1999 the only other dwelling up that deadend path/road on the
beach was a summer house owned by someone from Honduras. Is the 5-star hotel
you're speaking of up that path/road? If yes, where exactly is it being built?
Before you get to Helene's & Hotel Canadian or afterwards? And if afterwards, how
far?
Or, are you talking about going down the main highway about 5-10 miles
east, away from Cebia, there's another road to the left which had a Hotel with
2-3 buildings for guests, but I've read that was bought out by a hotel company
from Spain and they have been remodeling it and renamed it Hotel Barcellonia
and it was to be all inclusive. I haven't read anything about it in a long
time. Is this the 5-star hotel? If yes or no, how is it doing?
Or, is the 5-star hotel up the Sambo Creek dirt road which is several
miles before you get to the Hotel Canadian dirt path? When we were there there
was one restraurant looking building which was open and another "restraurant" in
a house. Both were on the beach. We ate at the house restraurant and it was
wonderful. We were the only guests at that time....winter.
I'm asking all these questions because we plan to return there this
December to stay a few weeks and wonder if we need to try to get in touch with
Jeanette & Charles for a reservation. Heretofore, we've just showed up & because
it was your winter time, we've had no problem getting a room. Does anyone know
if they have e-mail or a PO Box in Ceiba? When we were before they only had a
cell phone, which we did not get that number.
