We live in Bacalar,MX near the Belize border and are considering a
first trip to Roatan. I
have a heart condition that doesnt allow for much altitude
(2600'/850mt) which makes
driving the whole way difficult. Does anyone have any
thoughts on a path using
our Mexican Jetta ? Or on ferries from Belize.
Are there air taxis or
small airlines connecting from Belize (I can ask pilots to stay low
on taxis or small
commuter planes). Otherwise are there passenger ferries all the way
from Belize to La
Ceiba and then to
Roatan?
Right now, with Bacalar changing into developed touristland too
rapidly; we are tempted to
look around and Ambergris Caye,BZ and Roatan seem the most attractive
possibilities but
the trip to Roatan appears difficult. Am I overlooking simple ways to
get there that don't
show on the map?
