Hi Tor. well in the mainland(La Ceiba) you can use almost any creditcard or amex travelers cheques (in us$). You might have to spot around for the right bank. Here i mean bank, not brach of bank since i encountered that banco atlantida on my first try would not accept trevelers cheques but on my second try in another bank would. on the bay island of utila i just found out, you can only use visa creditcards. (1 place for amex though, but they charges 6% in commision) and travelers cheques. I just returned today from utila and i dove with BICD (http://www.dive-utila.com) and they accept travelers cheques but they also charges a commision. Best advice is to get your cash in the bank. Hi,
I am about to come to Honduras for a couple of weeks to back pack around and do some diving. I am not sure what the best strategy for money is. Can I get cash out of the ATMs using my credit card or is it better to bring travellers checks?
I was going ot bring some dollars in cash but I don't really want to bring all the cash I am going to need.
Also do dive shops accept credit cards?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tor
