Karen, I have been to La Tigra many times, I love it. At first it is a bit boring, it is very very peaceful and quiet. It is also a lot of physical effort, being very moutainous. But once you accept those facts, it is totally beautiful, almost addictive. At the top when the clouds are blowing along and everything is damp, it feels like the wildest place on earth. On clear days it is also impressive, there are some incredible views. The trails are nice and well maintained, there is a visitor center with bathrooms and guides and stuff in Jutiapa and on the other side close to San Juancito there is a little eco-lodge. I have never been up there at night, it is on my list of things to do definitely. I had a friend who volunteered up there for a while, and she really enjoyed it, but got a bit bored. You should probably consider bringing books or something to occupy your free time. Or just bus down to Tegucigalpa for a break once in a while. Have fun! Melanie
