    Kent,

Thanks for answering back so soon. We are very serious about the possibility of moving to the La Ceiba area. My wife is from San Pedro Sula and we lived there for about 6 months way back when. So we speak Spanish fluently and we have traveled extensively to Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, Portugal etc.
I first visited Roatan back in 1978, (I wish that I had bought some land back then). So we are definitely geared up for living back in Honduras. I work in Equatorial Guinea, Africa (the only Spanish speaking country on the continent) for 6 months out of the year, so we can live just about anywhere, but Honduras makes the most sense because my wife is una Catracha.
We are interested in renting a house at first to try out the area and find the right place to buy. I am also wondering if there is an industrial park type area where I could put a welding business. And Amparo (my wife) has some ideas on starting a business down there as well.
So I am glad that I am in contact with people like you that really know the area and I hope to be doing business with you in the future.

    Thanks,

    Sam

It is great that you will be making your trip to see it all for yourself.? Some internet research is important, but we often see people who go on for months and months seeking data and photos---and nothing beats a personal inspection.

You will find Roatan?expensive, maybe not by St. Barts' standards, but?you need at least $250,000 to enter a modest single family house and certainly it will not be on or?even near?a beach.? However, if someone's goal is a periodic two week vacation in a condo to swim with the dolphins, Roatan, if you can afford it, probably is best.? Certainly jet plane access to Roatan currently?is much better than to?La Ceiba.
    ?
La Ceiba offers tremendous cloud forest mountains, waterfalls, rafting and kayaking, lagoons,?fairly deserted beaches (but no reef and the ocean is more aqua color than crystal clear), fertile land for tropical fruit trees and flowers without the very dry periods on Roatan, and a cosmopolitan city (by Central American standards) with?multiple amenities, and just about an hour of your time to reach Roatan for the day or night.? Despite 30 years on Roatan, I like La Ceiba better for living?because you can access the?malls, movies, top medical care, etc. and then drive fifteen to twenty five minutes and be in splendid isolation.? Leaving the US, some people don't believe the "bigger city" features are important, but after a few months you might find you think fondly of Applebees.? Cost of construction and living is about 50% less in La Ceiba than Roatan.

You can write me off line for more details about La Ceiba.

    Kent?

    Kent,

Sam Rogers here from the Houston, Texas area. I will be visiting Roatan and La Ceiba next month. I am very interested in the La Ceiba area as a place to move to. I would like any information and correspondence that you can give me.

    Thanks,

    Sam

The restaurant is one of the best in La Ceiba in one of the best neighborhoods around---with $300,000 plus houses just a few blocks away.

Any information about the restaurant would be greatly appreciated. Is
the area safe? I have an opportunity to work there from Feb 08 for six
months or longer. Plenty to do there for a single man?
