Hi all...
I might assume that many of you have already discovered "Flash Earth". See http://www.flashearth.com
( I've created a link to at http://www.projecthonduras.com/map )
If you haven't, you may wish to take a look, particularly if you are involved in volunteer work in Honduras that requires you to travel around the country. This is by far the best interactive satellite imagery map I've found online. It has excellent resolution and it focuses in quickly.
Just click over Honduras, positioning the + over the area you want to view. Use the zoom in and out mechanism on the upper right hand corner of the page.
On the upper left hand corner of the page, click on "Google Maps" for the imagery with the clearest detail. Click on Microsoft VE (labels) for the imagery with the names of cities and towns.
Zoom in first on Tegucigalpa or San Pedro Sula. You can easily see streets, buildings, trees, cars (and a fair number of bright yellow school buses).
On the map of Tegucigalpa, for example, I am able to find my way to specific houses and office buildings. I can see how this capability would have practical applications.
