There is another trick in store as well. If you ever sell the "Vanna White" vehicle I understand that you will get to pay all the duties that you were able to forego when you brought it in.

I do not have corporations. I came in as an investor resident & my companies are owned as sole proprietorships. My big "Vanna White" vehicle was brought in as a company vehicle & I paid $700.00 for something or another. My businesses are tourist related, but I must pay customs and sales tax on everything I bring in; 35% import duty on jewelry & 15 - 20% for other items I sell. The additional killer to the bottom line is the 12% sales tax tacked on, on top of that, including shipping. > My understanding, to qualify for Duty Free status, 1) You must be a resident & 2) You must operate a tourism related business. If you don't fall into this category you will still have to pay duty....how much is the question. Our governor says these rules have not even been written yet. I'm not holding my breath anything will happen any time soon. Even though I fulfill the requirements for "duty free" status, I was informed I will always have to pay a "fee." I suggest no one put their life on hold, awaiting this magical event. > >
