I have checked into exactly what you are talking about myself. I'm sure you will get several responces from folks who live there and may be able to give you more detailed information. However...from what I have learned If you have a home paid for and a decent vehicle you can easily get by with that amount. In fact in my opinion you could live well for about half of your 2000 per month. As long as you enjoy eating more like the locals. You can buy produce very cheap. If you want to eat like a american you will pay american prices for food. Some things are more expensive there while others are considerably less. For example, fuel will be more, electricity will be more. But that could be a good trade off for you because since it's never cold there you wont have the natural gas heating bills you are used to. From what I have learned a vehicle like a motorcycle or car will be about 10-15% more purchased there. But you wont have the costs of shipping and taxes paid. There have
been past articles on the pro's and con's of bringing or purchasing vehicles. I am also looking forward to the responces you get from others. As for living Tela could be less than ceiba and then the other direction toward trujillo could be less than ceiba. Just depends on how much conviencences you need since ceiba has most everything you may be accustomed to. mi dos centavos. Randy(indiana)

Would I be able to retire on $2,000.00 per month? Where would I live?
Would I need a car? What about internet access? Is food expensive?
