I travel down to Honduras a good bit and shopped a lot of the stores
around San Pedro and know a bit about the coast. The big question is
what do you consider a necessity? It is an inexpensive place to live
IF you live like a native. But autos are very expensive, fuel is more
expensive and public transportation is ....well limited. (Think old US
yellow school buses. Some prices have come down of late on clothing
and other necessities. I saw a few weeks ago you could get a flat
panel TV for like $1200 US....so maybe a bit more, but not awful. Hope
that helps. You really need to go down and get a feel, meet some
    people, etc....
