Good afternoon everyone...
Today we sent out the first batch of written invitations (by snail mail) to the Conference on Honduras 2004. The second batch will go out within two weeks.
If you would like to receive a written invite, or know of someone who would, please e-mail me the information at hondopost.....com.
I am hoping to send out 750-1,000 invitations in all. This would be about twice as many as we mailed out last year.
This will be the fifth consecutive annual Conference on Honduras. It will be the second straight Conference in Copan Ruinas. Last year's event attracted more than 310 individuals representing over 110 organizations, universities, companies, agencies, and churches.
The Conference will take place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (half day) ... October 21, 22, 23, and 24. It will be held at the Municipal Conference Center, across from the central plaza.
If we need additional meeting space, we'll see about reserving some smaller conference rooms at some of the hotels in town.
Plans are for the "hospitality suite" reception to be sponsored by Honduras' Institute of Tourism. It will likely be held at the McCaw Mountain Bird & Nature Reserve, pending final discussions with the facility's owners. See www.macawmountain.com
Our wonderful planning team in Copan Ruinas is still in place. It is led by Sandra Guerra of Casa de Todo and Maya Connections (www.copanhonduras.org/subsites/shopping/mayaconn/mayaconn.htm) and Carin Steen of Copan Pinta (www.projecthonduras.com/copanpinta).
The Conference will be presented by projecthonduras.com. It will be sponsored by Special Missions Foundation (www.specialmissions.org) of Georgetown, TX. I will be working hand in hand with my wife, Barbara, and with our excellent partners Sandra Romero de Thompson and Jerry Thompson of Special Missions.
All the info you need to register online can be found at www.projecthonduras.com/conference
If you have any specific questions... I'm always around. Just e-mail me.
Cheers, Marco projecthonduras.com
