Good morning everyone... After spending a few days in Copan Ruinas, I flew back to Washington, DC for a weekend, and then took off again to attend the National Space Symposium ( http://www.nationalspacesymposium.org ) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Switching gears from issues concerning the social development of my native country to the commercial development of space is always an interesting experience.
Please note that we now have a new registration page for the Conference on Honduras. See http://specialmissions.org/conferencia.htm
I encourage you to register online as soon as you can, if you are planning to attend this year's conference. As you can see, the new registration page is more detailed and is in both English and Spanish. My thanks to Jerry Thompson and Sandra Romero de Thompson of Special Missions Foundation for initiating the process of improving the page. I greatly appreciate this type of "fine tuning" and I am to-no-end grateful for the wonderful partnership between projecthonduras.com and Special Missions!
Use the page if you'd like to indicate your interest in making a presentation or if you'd like to sponsor someone in Honduras to attend the conference. I am still trying brainstorm ways to get more Hondurans involved in the Conference on Honduras. I sense that part of the problem is that we're just not getting the word out in Spanish enough. Another part of the problem may simply have to do with the cost of the event. I recognize that $100 or $125 is a fair amount of money in a country where the average annual income is around $1,000. The fact remains that putting on a three-day conference does involve some expenses. Rather than attract corporate sponsorship, we've opted to fund the event primarily through the registration fees.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
This will be the 8th annual Conference on Honduras. Amazing.
