You will not have a problem finding unleaded fuel. That problem is from long ago. Diesels are cheaper to operate but not any cheaper or easier to repair, if anything they are more expensive and harder to find parts for. Toyota is far and away the most popular brand. Before you make your trip, email me and I will give you some suggestions for nice towns to stay in and places to avoid on your way. I have made that drive about twenty times.
