There is a small museum on the square that you might miss. Be sure to go. It is my favorite. It deals with daily life on a personal level in the mayan culture. Be sure to ask for a guide. I had one that spoke english.

We plan to visit the ruins and exlpore the town. What else would be in a day's trip to see in the area? Is Santa Rosa de Copan worth it with the tobacco and coffee industry? What about Gracias. We will not be renting a car, and our lodging is 10 minutes outside the town of Copan Ruinas. Thank you
