Hi Min Lin,
It's definitely easier to use US Dollars. However with your bank ATM
card you can get Lempiras at many bank ATMs as long as your bank card
is part of a major network such as SIRUS and you have your four digit
pin. There are Several ATM'S (Cajero Automatico) at several Tela Banks.
As with any other place in the world it is safest to use the ATM in
daylight hours. Travelers check are very difficult to cash. You can
also take a VISA, MASTERCARD inside a bank and get Lempiras as well.
But the easiest way is to use a bank card at an ATM and just withdraw
what you might need for a couple of Days. Use of your credit card for
purchases at Hotels, tour operators, large restaurants can keep your
cash needs to a minimum. In many hotels you can charge food and other
services to your room account and pay with a credit card when you
leave.
