Actually, although Tela is a very nice place with great beaches I don't
believe that you will have any interesting snorkeling or diving since there is no
reef. There really is no easy way to get to the Bay Islands from Tela.
>From La Ceiba with its various beach hotels and rental houses you can take the 1
hour passenger ferry to Roatan or the 25 minutes by small boat to Cochinos
Keys for superb snorkeling and diving. I, also, doubt that you will be
walking around the town---not that its dangerous, but there isn't much, to my
knowledge, of great interest. You can visit the Garifuna communities and Janet
Kawas Park, so that will be fun.
