The English speaking community is rather scattered since greater La Ceiba is large. Those that want to socialize or exchange ideas generally can be found at Helen's Beach Restaurant about 18 minutes outside of La Ceiba or Expatriates Bar and Restaurant within La Ceiba. We have sold many properties to people that don't speak a word of English and they find themselves adapting and happy very quickly. I think full retirement anywhere can be boring, so the days here are filled with people with little businesses or tending exotic tropical fruit and flower gardens, or helping locals with ideas including schools for kids, etc. Lots to do here. It appears that there is a sizeable English speaking community is LaCeiba, is this true? We have toured Honduras, lived in Nicaragua, and spent some time in most of the Central American countries. It seems to us that we prefer Honduras the most, however we still struggle with our Spanish. Having an English speaking community would certainly be a plus. We're not island dwellers so we're not really considering Rotan, we'd prefer the mountains. Any advice for us as to where to begin looking? We live simply, and would like to have a place conducive for horses. We would like to know what it's like to live in LaCeiba, what's the average day like for Americans living there? What are the major problems, what are the benefits? We really appreciate any input. Thank you ... Bob & Mary ____________ Check out the new AOL.
