Hi,
We were in La Cieba staying at the Jungle Lodge when my 16-year-old became sick with flu-like symptoms and a very swollen throat. We took here to the hospital, and they gave her some antibiotic pills and a shot. She felt better the next day and went diving. The doctor's exam, shot and pills were signifcantly less than we paid for lunch at the nearby mall. The same visit in the US would have been hundreds of dollars. Of course, they would not take our BC/BS insurance, but at the price it was no big deal.
However, I have no idea how well they handle more serious health conditions, and I would be wary about the state of their technology. It felt like going back into time when we entered the hospital.
