Our family traveled to Honduras in August for our first trip. While in San Pedro we stayed at the Holiday Inn and at the Bananarama while in Roatan. We were really happy with both places and would recommend them. The Holiday Inn is centrally located in the downtown area making it easy to access most everything. The kids really like swimming in the pool too. Unfortunately you would have to arrange your own transportation from the airport to the hotel. We were actually able to arrange a cheaper rate once there than what we had reserved through the internet.
The Bananarama was a great place to stay right off the beach (West Bay) at a fraction of the cost of staying at a place like the Mayan Princess (which is right next door). We did not plan on staying indoors much while in Roatan so we did not need to have a glamorous place to stay. It was easy to make the reservation and payment arrangements with Ron. Transportation could be arranged to pick you up.
The Holiday Inn and the Bananarama are easy to locate on the internet. We speak Spanish, but both of these places have English speaking staff. I hope you enjoy your trip to Honduras. The kids everyday ask to go back, so we will have to return.
