    Subject: [travel-to-honduras] Roatan Air Services

If you're new to Honduras, or contemplating a trip here, you should know
about Roatan Air Services. We've been aware of them for years but hadn't been on
one of their planes until just recently.

We flew from Roatan to Panama with Roatan Air Services (rasXpress) on their
newest plane, an Aero Commander 560, which has two engines and carries 6
passengers plus the pilot of course. Gil Garcia, the owner of rasXpress, removed
nearly all of the seats so we could take our Maine Coon cat and 36 boxes of
    household possessions with us.

Can you imagine trying to do that on a commercial airline? To say nothing of
the fact that a trip which normally takes over 7 hours (or a lot more if
you're unlucky) and visits a minimum of four airports ... took less than 4 hours
non-stop. What could have been a horrendous ordeal turned out to be a fun
    adventure with really caring service.

Roatan Air Services actually has two planes, the Aero Commander plus a Cessna
    172. They fly sightseers around the Bay Islands, mainland Honduras, Copan,
Belize, Guatemala, and now Panama. As well, they handle business trips and have
provided emergency medical evacuation on occasion. If you'll be settling on
Roatan, you might also be interested in their mail forwarding service between
    Miami and the island.

My husband and I had an excellent experience with them. If you have any
questions or want more information, you can reach Gil Garcia on Roatan at (504)
360-1976; (504) 445-1459 or 445-1417. Roatan Air Services is located at the Mango
Mall near the entrance to Coxen Hole and just west of Que Tal Cafe. They have
    a web site, www.roatanair.com, and e-mail, gil.....com.
