you can get your US phone a Honduran chip or you can buy a cheap Honduran cellphone and with either anyone you can call the US . It's about $0.28 / minute. however The promo minutes included in a locally purchased phone will not apply towards international calls, you'll have to enter a pre-paid card to call outside Honduras. Generally the format is 00+country code+area code+phone number

internet cafes and call home for less than 10 cents a minute. You can
also check your email, surf the net, and keep in touch with your
friends. If you have an unlocked cellphone tri-band or quad-band from
T-Mobile you can buy a phone chip from TIGO or CLARO, here in Honduras,
and use you cell to make calls within Honduras for very low rate. You
can also buy a phone hear for less than $50 from TIGO or CLARO and then
insert a pay as you go chip from a US provider when you return to US
for an extra phone.
