I agree. The islands seem MUCH safer than the mainland, but they only seem that way They are not, in fact, generally safer, and that perception of safety sometimes can get people into trouble in the islands by letting down their guard. The theme of being careful and aware, wherever you are from Roatan to La Ceiba to Miaimi to Denver is the best rule. There is potential trouble everywhere. So, it actually is impossible to say that all of Roatan is safer than all of La Ceiba. Within Roatan Mayan Princess you probably are very safe. Within the Palma Real in La Ceiba you probably are very safe. Walking late at night by yourself down West Bay Beach towards West End town, you may not be safe, etc. etc. Kent
