Good Internet News
I have been testing Navega today. Now I have been testing a fast connection as we just installed 394K which is expensive. However the quality is excellent. Upload and download speeds are fast. At the moment the connection off the island is not as good as it could be and takes longer than it should do. But you will not notice unless you are running test software like mine. However I am assured by an engineer that this is because they have not switched their main connection on which will come up in a few days. Of course this being Roatan I will reserve my judgment until I see it in action. The speed is excellent both ways and if you wanted to do VOIP (packet8, Skype etc. it would work well) As I test it further over the next few days I will give you more details. One of the best features though is the cheap install only $500 I believe and it is using WiMax receivers that do not need line of sight and have a range of 9 miles none line of sight. So the install literally too about 30 seconds once they had access to the roof. The only way this island is going to improve its infrastructure is competition and this the quality of the internet so far seems very high. Even initially I would highly recommend it to any commercial or business on the island that requires a good connection.
More info as it comes and I will update my report on www.lifeonroatan.com as soon as I have the final information on pricing etc.
Regards all
