Yup, I actually have a few friends there. Have you visited Utila? At this time, most of the action is just in Utilla Town which is a pretty small community. But there is a lot of construction and development going on. Much of the beach property has been bought up even though there are no roads to most of it. They have extended the road toward the west end of the island, but I think it will be a while before there is much of a road toward the east end. The only place there would be a school would be Utila Town. I'm waiting for an answer to my inquiry and will let you know when I find out. One of my friends is an islander who has children, so I should get an answer through him. As for cost of living...are you planning to rent something island style, rent something more american style or build? Electricity is expensive and most people still have generators for when they shut the power plant down. Grocerys are about the same or maybe a little more than Roatan. There is not much use for a car. A golf cart, scooter or bicycle might be in order if you get out into one of the new developments to the west. My honduran cell phone works there and I use TIGO cards. It's a pretty simple living style on Utila. Oh...that is of course except for Sun Jam weekend. That is a time I like to be far away from Utila Town. ;~) Deborah
