Hello Cathy, I spent 3 years in yucatan and I used to come here to La Ceiba several times per year, Once in Cancun you go to the bus station ( Terminal de Buses ADO) and from there in first class you go to Belize city and in that station to Guatemala city once in Guatemala at the Hedman Allas Terminal you can buy a one way ticket to La Ceiba and then take the Ferry to Roatan. I know there is now a shortcut from Las Flores in Guatemala to Puerto Cortes ( new highway where you can save some 12 or more hours). The whole trip will take you more than one day, but if you take the bus from Las flores in Guatemala to Puerto Cortes in Honduras will a lot faster unless you want to know the country and city of Guatemala
