Hi there, just got back from honduras after spending a year there.
First thing is to get a lawyer, check with the boards here for a good
immigration lawyer, Enrique Cervantes in La Ceiba was reccommeded to
me by the couple that own Munchies in Utila.

For working, they can let you know, i tihnk theres a minimum $$ amount
of currency that has to be exchanged per month, others on the board can
    let you know more.

For pets, i brought 2 cats down, so i can tell you what i know about
that. Get a health certificate no older than 10 days from your
departure date. Also make sure shots are up to date esp rabies.

HAVE A VET MEET YOU AT THE AIRPORT!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot stress this enough, i went through the Honduran embassy in my
country, all they did was lighten my wallet and give me useless
papers. When you arrive in Honduras, a vet will need to examine and
sign off on them and send some documents to the capital.

I had fantasitc dealings with sarylena at Venternaria Little Champes
in San Pedro Sula if youre landing there, she is truly an angel.

As for military, the presence is stronger in the cities than the bay
islands, then again, they need them there. Standard-substandard
    US/NATO equipment.

    Hope that helps
