Planes don't land into TGU or any other airport if visibility is not enough (fog, cloud base) or if crosswinds are too strong (winds that blow airplane to one side or the other). Rain itself isn't a reason for airplanes not to land, it's usually the associated low cloud ceiling or wind.

January is usually pretty tame in rain issues. Toncontin usually gets closed due to smoke from nearby fires, but that's in April or may when the heat kicks up and forest fires spread.

that 60% chance of rain is probably a drizzle or strong rain in the early evening or late afternoon. If you are flying with American or Continental you don't have to worry because they come in around noon when the visibility is at the best.

The flight is only 2 hours from Miami and 3 from Houston so even before takeoff they would know if weather was good to land in Tegus. So in the extreme remote case that weather was bad, your flight would be just delayed or canceled before taking off. I've heard that in the very utmost extreme cases of a strong weather change once the airplane was in the air American airlines refuels at either SPS or San Salvador and returns everyone to Miami. Don't know if Continental does the same but wouldn't be illogical.

Unfortunately in case of weather related delays or diversions, airlines are not required to provide for you, meaning they don't have to get you a room or food, they might do it but they are not required to. That's why I guess they return to the point of origin. For travel reasons I personally take a credit card, it's a convenient way to get a room, calls or quick cash at an ATM.

I would say that in your case, you probably have nothing to worry about because the flight probably will land without trouble. if there is trouble they will take you back to your departure city (in this case). You probably already have phone numbers of people in the US and Honduras in case you need to call them, like if you miss your flight or it is cancelled and you get new flight arrangements for another day. If the plane is delayed they can find that out by calling the airline, you wouldn't have to call them yourself or at least you should have to worry about that if you don't have the time or means.
    Buen Viaje!!

Subject: [travel-to-honduras] Delays at the Toncontin Airport?
So I've been keeping track of the weather and I saw where there's a
60% chance of rain on the day I fly into Tegus.

I've read and heard that planes DO NOT fly into Tegus if its cloudy,
foggy, or rainy. Is this true?

If there was to be a delay, what would happen? Where would we land?
    In San Pedro Sula? Roatan?

I'm a little confused on the whole delay thing. (first time flying by
myself lol! Just curious on what steps I would have to take and what
    to be prepared for.

    Thanks!
