It's a great idea,,the key is getting the container into the country and
released into the hands of those that need it.

    Trevor:
I work in Texas and have some contacts where we may be able to get free
donations of various school supplies, I will persue this in the next few
weeks, when are you planning to be in Honduras.
When we were there we saw some children walking to school with their neat
little uniforms, and NO shoes, so I was thinking of organizing a drive at
local churches etc, for childrens shoes. School suplies can be included.
Maybe we can get a full container shipped there with a concentrated efforrt
    here in USA,

    Hello everyone-

A group of us is traveling down to Honduras as a family doing Humanitarian
work. One of the organizations near La Ceiba is in dire need of school
    supplies.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to bring from the US and what to buy
in Honduras? Will prices be significantly lower in Honduras? Will most
supplies be readily available there also (children's scissors, pencils,
papers, crayons, notebooks, backpacks, etc.) to purchase in large
    quantities?

We were also wondering if anyone knows general laws for bringing donations
like that into the country. Is there an import tariff even if it is being
given away as a gift to a Honduran non-profit? We were also looking at
donating dental hygiene supplies and children's books.

    Thanks!

    -Trevor
