I think you can type "satellite phone" on a search page like yahoo or google and it will show a lot of resellers and distributors. Also on the iridium page there should be a section about where to buy.
I had a gps attachment for my Palm IV and i know what you mean about not being able to get a reading, sometimes I had to wait 15 minutes to get it started. But once it was locked to satellites it's the coolest thing!!
