Angel -
It is my understanding that the two service providers in Honduras,
Celtel and Claro, work on the 850 and 1900 frequencies, respectively,
same as the US, so that if you have an Unlocked GSM phone running on
those frequencies they can work in Honduras. Also, that you can buy
the chip inexpensively to activate the phones within the local
systems from either of the two providers and just run on their
prepaid phone cards.
If you've got better information please let me know (before I buy a
bunch of used phones on Ebay and take them over).

Outrageous if you ask me. I might as well get an Iridium or Globestar
satellite phone and be charged only $1 a minute and call from the
depths of any jungle or mountain or even in the north or south pole.
The only thing going for those international rate plans is that they
are usually very convenient in that you keep using the same phone in
other countries.
