Cant imagine that happening. We just got back from Roatan and walked up and
down West Bay. You can go anywhere you want on the beach without a hassle.
I think the guards are for if someone that they feel is dangerous is walking
up by where the rooms, pool are etc. The Mayan Princess has guards but they
are between the restaurant and the beach...

    Hi All,

I heard of people being stopped at gun-point as they were only attempting to

walk along the beach in front of a big resort in Roatan. I don't think, but
please correct me if I am wrong, that it is legal to privatize beaches in
Honduras? Yet the big Hotels do pretty much what they want. I am not
surprized that the honduran authorities would not protect their citizen's
right of access. Does anybody have information on the actual laws protecting

    beaches from being privatized?

    Thanks Sabine
