Hello,
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you bring a US cell phone to Honduras and plan to put a Honduran SIM card in it, make sure you have the phone "unlocked" first. When you get a phone in the US, it is usually "locked" to the company that sold it to you (e.g. T-Mobile, Cingular) and will only accept SIM cards from that vendor. Sometimes, the vendor will unlock it without hesitation. In other cases, they want you to be a customer for a few months first. If the vendor will not unlock the phone, you can find people on the internet who will do it for a fee. If you do not get the phone unlocked and then put a SIM in it from a Honduran phone company, you will get an error message. Some shops down there might be able to unlock it for you, but may not be able to if your phone comes from a manufacturer with whom they are not familiar.
Regards,
jsl
