Megan; I hope you get to Honduras soon, About the phones. Both my wife & I have a Razr phone here in USA, but we purchased a NOKIA 6030 Phone to take to Honduras. Nokia has MUCH better reception to start out with, then we had an extra antena installed in the Nokia and it is fantastic in ALL areas. The Nokia gets much better reception here in USA and other countries, because of something to do with the range in bands. I can NOT explain this, I only know it works. This antena is like a piece of tape with a gold circut that they put inside the phone behind the battery. When we got to Honduras we purchased a new SIM Card for about $5.00 US, and purchased about $ 10.00 worth of prepaid minutes, slid it into the Nokia. You can purchase the SIM & Minutes from the local phone company in Honduras and not worry about Cingular, We have them and it is always a problem.. Everything worked very well. In Country you only pay for outbound calls as it was described to me. We purchased this Nokia 6030 phone because we wanted a phone that we could leave there, and not have to keep changing sim cards in our razr phones, and I have all my USA Business on my Razr so I do not want to possibly loose it. Plus we now have a house there in La Cieba and expect to be there reguarly so we just leave the phone & charger etc there. If you think $2.99 /minute is crazy, WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE EXTRA CHARGES AND TAXES!!!!!! No need to respond to this message

Well I have Cingular. I don't have the international plan YET lol, but definitely plan on getting it before I leave. There is usually a three month wait (90 days) in order to qualify for the international calling plan, but another woman I spoke to, who actually sounded like she KNEW what she was talking about told me to call at the end of December and ask them to fill out this sheet for me that waives the 3 month thing.
To call Honduras from the U.S. it is .39 to a landline phone there and .40 to a cell phone. I think that's a pretty good deal. I have the Motorola RAZR V3i phone which you can use ANYWHERE around the world because it has all that technical stuff (something about quad bands or something? Don't really know how to explain it, just know that I can use it anywhere in the world even in Honduras!)
As for roaming while in Honduras and calling the U.S., if you have the International plan it is $1.99, which is A LOT I think, but if you don't have the plan it goes up to $2.99 per minute! Ridiculous!
As for Roatan, I don't know much about it BUT that is also where I hope to go to. I've waited for like EVER to see crystal clear tropical-colored blue water!
Well, I hope that you get a better international plan, that sounds expensive and I don't blame you for wanting a more cheaper one! And I am SURE someone on here can give you very helpful advice and ideas about Roatan!
