For Roatan, I would suggest west bay beach. Less than $50 a night is going
to be difficult, but try and contact a woman named Emiliana Miconi - she
rents out a few private villas down there and has always been very very
    nice.

None are anywhere near $50 a night but sometimes you can haggle a
little. I've stayed in both Bai Bai (3 months) and St Macs (2 weeks). Both
are very comfortable. There are some other houses that rent with her that
are not listed on that page. There are some that are set a little further
back from the beach (say 200 yards instead of 20 ft) that rent for
    considerably less.

Alternatively, http://www.paradisebeach.com is right next door and is also
quite nice. They have an excellent dive shop on site. If you call them see
if Simon or Juan Pablo is around - tell him Cosimo referred them, they
might give you a break on price. A note about west bay: it's normally
pretty quiet, but expect Cruise ships to inundate the area on Tuesdays and
Sundays. It's easy to avoid them- simply take the day to explore the
    island.
West bay is definetly pristine, snorkeling is excellent in the area
(though I strongly suggest diving), good local flavour, food is excellent
(particularly at the end of hte beach), its safe (occasional petty theft
just lock up the house when you leave), it's pretty secluded (tho see the
note about toursists on sunday/tuesday) - you WILL have neighbors, but
    it's swamped.

Utila is a good choice but you won't find pristine beaches there. As far
as I know, Cayos only has one hotel and it isn't anywhere near $50 a
    night.
