Megan. Slow down, take a deep breath, evrything is fine. Traveling is always a adventure and exiting. If you just got your passport if yours is like mine it's good for 10 years. What I believe you have read is....they want to make sure it's valid for at least 3 months more. Since your's is new you have 10 years so everythings fine. Check that site again and read it again to confirm. I hope to reside in honduras in the future(the sooner the better) but before I do so I will get a new passport because it would be a lot easier todo it here than there and then I will have that taken care of for 10 years. I also assume you will be met at the airport by your fiancee, correct? So he will be there waiting, it will be easy trust me. The customs paper is such a simple thing. I have done it many times. Generally they are more worried about what you are bringing out of the country rather than what you are bringing in. It's a very short form, check off a few things, give approx dollar
value and hand it in when asked to do so. If all your going to have is your purse and one carry on it will be a breeze. Your fiancee will be with you and help you to understand the city as to where is safer than others. Always use common sence just like you would in any other city. Dont be flashy or appear very uncertain of yourself. I'd bet you will love the country after exploring around a while. This site is full of ex-pats who have made the move permanent and are very happy. The main thing you have to get used to is that things move very slow compared to the U.S. I hope you have a wonderful time and am looking forward to hearing all about your experience's. REALLY true and I cannot plan my trip to Tegus for January 2007!

I was just reading on two websites (the travel.state.gov website and
the Honduras Embassy website) and this is the sentence that is
    worrying me:

"A U.S. Passport valid for at least 3 months from the date of entry"

    and

"Though not required by law, some travelers have reported difficulty
departing Honduras using a passport with less than 3 months of
validity from the date of departure."

Okay, the first sentence. I JUST got my passport in the mail a few
days ago. It was issued Nov. Does this mean that I won't be
allowed in Honduras and I would have to come all the way back home?
Do they look at the date of when it was issued? Or do they just look
at if it is legit and a legal passport? I am SO worried because I
failed to read this and I hope it hasn't cost me! I already bought my
plane ticket for Jan 9 to Jan 24th!

Okay, now the second sentence kind of proves that people HAVE gone
through Immigration with passports that have been less than three
months, so maybe I am worrying for nothing?! That would be nice! But
then that sentence kind of worries me too, because what if I get
through fine but they look at my passport on departure back to the
states and see it is less than 3 months and like the sentence says, I
could have trouble coming back here?

Gosh, I REALLY have to stop worrying! I am just feeling like
everything is coming into place and it seems like everything is going
smoothly so far, but I am just WAITING for the obstacles to start lol!

I guess I am just preparing myself in case I am not able to go.

Anyways, anyone have opinions? Am I worrying TOO much? I am trying
to relax...I think what I have to do is STOP researching because it
seems like I am coming up with negative things instead of positive!

    Okay! Thanks for any replies!

Megan (The Worrier that needs to relax lol!)
