You may not understand that, and I feel sorry for you if you don't know the joy of having a good dog(or 2 or 3!) in your life. They aren't interchangeable toys. I have 2 now, and have read this thread with great interest. And I still very much miss one who died 5 years ago. A friend of mine who never owned a dog emailed me a study that says that over the lifetime of an average dog his owner will spend $13,000 on him. My friend encouraged me to give up my dogs to have more money. He and his wife were in their early 40's at the time and were childless. Shortly after his email someone gave them a very small, odd looking dog whose owner had died. At first he was trying to find another home for it. Now he emails Christmas cards with a picture of them with the dog. And really loves the little guy. Sorry for this long response but you pushed a button with your "clever" remark.
