One quick note ... there are many things to do and enjoy on Roatan. If you are planning a trip (especially for a first time) and have not already done so, I would highly recommend taking a look at - and purchasing - a copy of the DVD - "Adventures on Roatan: An exciting tour of the island on DVD" Here's a link to give you a snapshot of whats included and info on how to get a copy. It's well worth it. The DVD is far better than the sample footage.

My husband and I plan to travel to Roatan in February, 2007. We are looking for clean and reasonable lodging. We have found several places that seem to fit the bill. However, we did read some comments about sand fleas and bedbugs in some places. I've never seen a bedbug but I am very allergic to sand fleas. Two places we are looking at are Mermaid Beach Cabins and Seabreeze. My husband likes to snorkel and we have heard that just about anyplace on Roatan is good for that sport.
Basically, we need information on lodging that would be near restaurants. I hope you can help us with this.
