Yes, it is safe--although anything can happen in any part of the world. I would not drive around in unknown areas after dark in case you had a flat tire or other car problems---but, then I would not drive from Denver to Colorado Springs at 11:30 pm. We just had two young lady clients who drove to Trujillo and then all the gravel back roads returning into San Pedro Sula and they had a great time.
