Has Honduras Museums or Art Galleries?

Honduras is home to some of Central America’s finest museums and galleries. In San Pedro Sula the Museum of Anthropology covers the areas history from 1500 BC to present day. The museum houses an impressive selection of Mayan artifacts and is a must for anyone with an interest in Archaeology.

Copan is home to the Mayan Museum of Sculpture, which houses an impressive full size replica of the Rosalila Temple and many original pieces from the Copan area and Las Sepulturas Site. The Copan Ruins Archaeology Museum though small houses some interesting artifacts and information.

Comayagua is home to a Colonial Museum with a range of religious art including sculptures and jewels which where used to adorn saints and paintings. The Museum of Anthropology and History is home to archaeology artifacts from the region, mainly with a Lenca origin.

Tegucigalpa is home to variety of Museums; the Museum National Villaroy is home to a range of exhibits from 1830 to current times. Museum del Hombre houses a range of paintings. The Museum Historico Militar has a selection of personal items from national heroes and a display of firearms. Sala Bancatlan is a private collection of paintings by Honduran artists. National Art Gallery houses a vast collection of paintings from Honduran artists dating back to colonial times and the Museum of Natural History houses displays of the countries Eco-systems and animal species.
